Travel an existing route, maintaining a per-determined schedule, to make pick-ups and/or deliveries to and from Security armored express’s customers.

Nature and Scope

Employees in this position will ultimately report to the branch manager, but may report to other supervisors if the operational needs of the branch so require. This position is very structured; constant supervision is available, however, in the day to day performance of this position there is little direct supervision.

Employees must be willing to work around a varied work schedule and ‘on-call’ assignments. Employees in this position must be able to work under pressure (i.e. maintain patience, confidence, and composure) caused by tight deadlines or adverse conditions. Employees will be held accountable for the late delivery of time-critical material.

Employees must learn and work with automated teller machines to the extent that they feel comfortable performing balancing operations and general maintenance.

Employees will interact with other employees and Security Armored Express customers. Therefore, a professional appropriate manner and dress is required at all times.

Major Activities

Ensure that your valuables are safe Immediately prior to the shift beginning, and immediately following the shift ending, visually inspect the vehicle for damage, wear, and insufficient consumable supplies - refill and report if necessary. Drive vehicle in a safe, professional manner, making sure to always exercise defensive driving skills.

Deliver shipments to customers and pick up shipment from customers as determined in the route book. Ensure that a signature is given for all packages received, and a signature is obtained for all packages delivered. Maintain accurate records by filing daily paperwork in the designated area.

Provide security on and around the armored trucks by maintaining visual and/or radio contact with the messenger. Inform messenger of the surroundings of the truck as messenger enters and exits the vehicle, thereby informing the messenger of any potentially threatening conditions.

job-descriptionentry-level-armored-car-driver_1The employee may be asked to perform duties that will ensure the safe and healthy operation of the branch, as well as other jobs that may be deemed operationally necessary.

Experience/Skill Required

  • Current state driver’s license (any employee driving an SEA vehicle with gross weight over 26,000 pounds must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements),
  • Excellent driving abilities, witnessed by a state Motor Vehicle Record with one or fewer moving violations and no at-fault accidents,
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle,
  • Ability to lift and handle up to 50 lb repeatedly, 100 lb occasionally, and handle and maneuver heavier loads with a hand truck or pallet jack, and
  • Must be licensed by the state as an armed guard (must be aged 21 or over),
  • Abilities consistent with an individual who displays the following attributes; dexterous, efficient, orderly, systematic, logical thinker, problem solver, and mechanically inclined.

Experience/Skill Preferred

  • A High School diploma or equivalent,
  • Knowledge of two-way radio communication, and
  • Familiarity with double-action revolver and pump-action shotgun.
